The elementary school gymnasium was buzzing with activity Saturday as the Extension Homemakers’ open house opened. This was the first county observance of Extension Homemakers’ Week which runs this year from May 6-12.
Crafts and craftswomen from the Amissville club arrived with rocking chairs to crochet, crewel, quilt, weave baskets and share their knowledge with others. Crosstitch, embroidery, needlepoint, quilts, decaupage, crochet and many other beautiful items were displayed.
Sheriff John Henry Woodward fingerprinted young children whose parents missed this service when it was offered earlier through the school. Parents were given the only copy of the fingerprints to keep with their records in case the prints are needed for identification purposes. Everyone hopes it won’t ever be necessary to use them but it’s always better to be prepared.
Some of the tots were unwilling to stand still long enough to ink their hands and press them on the form, but the parents and the sheriff let them relax and watch other children being fingerprinted and then did theirs. The youngsters were
