I he political situation in the Seventh is further complicated by the expected entry into the race of retired Air Force Lt. Col. Robert E. Frazier of Earlysville. Frazier, a conservative, is presently collecting the necessary petition signatures to qualify as an independent candidate.
Eighth District: Three Democrats will be contesting in the June 12 primary for the nomination. They are state Sen. Richard L. Saslaw of Ann&ndale, Craig Coverdale of Alexandria and David S. Holland also of Alexandria. Saslaw is reportedly favored to win the nomination. If he is successful, he will oppose incumbent Republican Stanford E. Parris of Woodbridge in what is expected to be a close election fight in November.
Ninth District: This is also expected to be a hard fiuight contest with Republican Del. C. Jefferson Stafford of Pearisburg opposing incumbent Democrat Frederick C. (Rick) Boucher of Abingdon. While the Democrats are confident that Boucher will win reelection, GOP strategists regard the race in the Ninth as their best opportunity to pick up an additional seat.
Tenth District: In the only other district (aside from the Eighth) to hold a contested primary, two Democrats from Arlington will be vying for the party^ nod. They are John P. Flannery, II and Harris Miller. Incumbent Republican Frank R. Wolf if not regarded as being in serious trouble for re-election at this point although November is a long way down the road.
