GROW OR GO A large crowd of family and friends had gathered for the celebration of their fiftieth wedding anniversary. The aging couple, dressed in their finest, celebrated the occasion with pomp and pageantry. When the festivities slackened a bit, I chanced to ask them a question: "How did you make fifty years together?" They smiled at each other. "Tell him," she said. He started slowly, deliberately. "The day we married the old minister said to us, 'You have two choices as you try to build a life together: You can GROW or GO. The choice is up to you.' " A big smile covered the 50-year groom's face. “We decided to GROW. To GO has never been an option for us. Oh, we've had tough times, but we’ve never been sorry about our decision." The poet's invitation surfaced as the couple turned to greet more well-wishers: Sunday 1 Peter 3:8-16 Monday Genesis 22:1-19 Tuesday Exodus 24:1-18 Wednesday Leviticus 25:23-38 Thursday Deuteronomy 4:15-31 Friday Deuteronomy 5:1-33 "Come, GROW old along with me; the best Is yet to be.” And so it is.
