RCHS students have recently been seen walking the dog, rocking the baby and going around the world with their yo-yos made by “My Yoyo Co.” The company is a result of a three week Mass Production unit in Scott Currie’s eighth grade Exploring Technology class.
The students voted on an item that they would like to mass produce. The yo-yo idea was completely the students. Then they decided on the type of wood and size. Nine prototypes were then made.
The class conducted a computer market survey and a student market survey. A sampling of the student body was shown the prototypes and were asked their opinion on which they liked best, best size, most popular color, if they would buy one, how much they would be willing to pay and what improvements they would make. The cost and size were then determined in response to the survey.
