No options ruled out
Following an executive session Monday afternoon, John McCarthy announced that the supervisors decided that, pursuant to the agreement reached last summer, landowners adjacent to the county's present landfill on Clifton Claris’s property on ftt. 621 east of Woodville will be notified "that the Claris site may be considered as an option for the county.”
“We were not, we are still not,” planning on exercising that option, Mr. McCarthy stressed. “But it is a possibility, especially if only for a couple of months until we get a new site permitted.”
The board cannot discuss that option, he added, until the landowners have been notified. Last summer, as part of an agreement with the residents that they not attempt to stop the county’s use of the Clark site until June 30, 1987, the board agreed that any consideration of an extension past that deadline would require notifying them in advance.
That letter, he added, was to be mailed to David Konick, attorney for the landowners, on Wednesday.
