State Route 707, generally known as the Slate Mills Road, twists its way through the southern part of Rappahannock County, running from Route 231 in the west to U.S. 522 in the east at Boston, just across the line in Culpeper County.
On its way it passes through the village of Slate Mills, close to the Culpeper County line, and very shortly thereafter (if you’ve come from Route 231) it makes several twists and turns, drops down and narrows to cross the Hazel River over a one-lane bridge with high concrete walls on both sides.
Just after this river crossing Route 604, locally known as the Round Hill Road, intersects Route 707 from the north. Arriving at this intersection with 707 from 604, high banks make it virtually
