He cited statistics from the recently released results of the Iowa Test in Basic Skills that showed that at the elementary school scores in vocabulary had improved 11.36 percent, reading comprehension scores increased 13.73 percent and math scores increased another 6.1 percent. “To do that you need a motivated, committed staff that gets up every morning wanting to do a good job.”
Mrs. Massie said she was pleased with the relationship between the School Board, administration and the Board of Supervisors. “You have listened to all our problems. I know you know the problems we have with the reduction in state funding and the increased demands of the Standards of Quality. I know you will do whatever you can for our school system this year,” she said.
