The Library Board of Trustees considered a proposal for solar heat for the new library building at their monthly meeting Thursday. Matt Barrett of Sperryville made the presentation.
“The big plus for solar energy is it’s the cleanest thing around,” Dr. Barrett said. “If you live in Rappahannock County, maybe it’s because you want clean air. I’m not selling anything. I’m a consultant to the government for solar energy. My assignments have been to evaluate different systems for solar energy.”
He said he was asked to evaluate a system last November that was “markedly better than anything I’ve seen so far.” The system was originally developed by General Electric. When GE dropped its solar projects it released its rights, allowing any
