The Rappahannock Panthers baseball team continues to struggle at the plate, as three more losses brought the young team’s record to 0-11 on the year.
Coach Dee Van Horn said that two shut-outs on the road last week really took the wind out of the team, leaving them discouraged. Last Wednesday, Central beat the Panthers 15-0 in a game called after five innings under the slaughter rule, and Strasburg again shut out Rappahannock on Friday, 16-0.
“They kind of went down after the Manassas Park game,” Coach Van Horn said. Late last month the Panthers came within three runs of beating the Cougars in a tight game. “They got close, 13-10, but after that they went into a funk on me. In those games last week they didn’t score runs, and they didn’t hit.”
