The gift of life

Next Wednesday, May 9, the county’s Extension Homemakers will sponsor their semi-annual Red Cross Bloodmobile from 3:30-7:30 p.m. at the Washington Fire Hall.

We urge all county residents to stop by the fire hall and donate a unit of blood. It takes only a few minutes, is nearly painless, and holds no risk of contracting any infectious diseases.

As summer approaches, and with it increased travel, there is increased demand on the region’s already tight blood supply. That means that even more donors will be needed to supply ‘‘the gift of life.” , For residents who are uncertain about donating, we invite them to stop by the fire hall and speak with one of the Red Cross nurses. They have answers to all questions about blood donations.

And. after getting their reassurances, we hope you will stay and donate. There is no greater gift to your neighbors.
