That is the probable fate this year as the House bill will be sent to the same committee that killed the Senate*version of the measure. That committee, Health and Education, easily killed the bill this year by a vote of 11-7.
Special bond-issue
session proposed
The Northern Virginia delegation is sharply divided over a series of bond proposals floating around the General Assembly this year and might press for a special session to deal with the bond bills in depth.
Proposals from Gov. L. Douglas Wilder, House Republicans and the House majority leader all have serious flaws, according to remarks made at two hastily called meetings of the delegation.
Gov. Wilder is proposing a $640 million bond package without any money for transportation. Republicans are offering $700 million with $300 million of the money going to transportation.
