The CORD funds will be used to complete renovations on the Soho Center’s regional facility in Haywood. Once completed, the Soho Center will start on the first phase of its child care training programs.
“Besides increasing the quality of family day care* our efforts make real economic sense. For example, having training programs for family day care providers allows us to sign them up on our USD A Food Program, which is already bringing a considerable amount of new money into the region. Right now, we’re reimbursing nearly $3,000 per month and expect to be reimbursing about $10,000 per month by the end of the year. That’s new money that is being spent right here in the region, and that helps everyone,” added Mrs. Beker.
