'Angels' author
gives lecture
Sophy Burnham, author of the bestselling religious book “A Book of Angels,” will give a lecture in The Theatre at Washington, Va., 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, sponsored by the Middle Street Gallery and Artists’ Cooperative.
The lecture is part of a month-long exhibit at the gallery by Maryland artists Felicia BelairRigdon, a collagist, and Tatiana, a potter.
The lecture will feature a question-andanswer period, followed by a book signing and reception for the artists at the gallery. There is a $5 admission fee for the lecture.
Exhibition curator Laurie Marshall, a Middle Street member artist, met Belair-Rigdon at the Maryland Hall for Creative Arts in Annapolis. Her work incorporates angel imagery, said Ms. Marshall. Ms. Burnham, who lives in D.C., agreed to give the lecture when contacted by Ms. Marshall.
Belair-Rigdon, who has a bachelor’s degree from Virginia Commonwealth University, studied paper-making at Pyramid Atlantic and painting at the Corcoran.
Her work is shown at the Adam Whitney Gallery in Omaha, Neb. and Fitzgerald Fine Art Gallery in Alexandria.
