RICHMOND—Four members of the Rappahannock News staff were honored at the Virginia Press Association (VPA) annual awards banquet in Richmond last weekend.
Photographer Cindy Mahan, reporter Sharon Kilpatrick, former editor Lou Hatter and Editor Mark Scolforo all received awards in the VPA’s annual writing, design and photography competitions.'
Mrs. Kilpatrick, of Scrabble, won first place in the feature writing category for a story about Doc Snead’s travels as a country doctor in Rappahannock.
Ms. Mahan, of Washington, won first in the “combination, sequence, series of photos” category for three color photographs she took of the 1990 Washington Colonial Christmas Celebration.
