Taking his pregnant wife and young son, Mr. Pace entered a trade school in Boston for specialized training.
“It was not a design school," he said of North Bennett Street School where he finished a 24-month program in just 14 months.
There he learned a “very traditional style” of woodworking, thus his perfection in classic-style furniture for the modern home.
But, selling furniture is as much science as it is art.
“You’ve got to have a show room and a salesman to really sell furniture,” he said, alluding to his outof-the-way workroom with no showroom space and less room for a salesman.
