Upon entering Warren County, ten years ago, as the wife of a man with a large family, I eventually adopted them and finally felt at home. It was a big shock to find out that no matter how I felt, I became a complete stranger when news of our pending divorce came out.
I had full undisputed custody of both boys, which is all I wanted, but as piece by piece of the perfect life I’d created for the four of us left, so did piece by piece of my self-confidence, self assurance, self worth and almost all of my drive and determination to make it.
The only thing I painstankingly harbored was the total blocking of any emotionally disturbing feelings, at any and all costs. Thus began my drinking habit.
