Because the seniors also must pay mileage if a company van is used to take them on a trip, the costs can really add up.
Many local people donate goods to the group. Mrs. Kiger said that Lee’s Orchard donated apples this fall, and several gardeners bring in vegetables. Many of the seniors no longer tend their own vegetable gardens, so they especially appreciate the fresh produce.
Hackley’s Store in Amissville has been donating food of all types to the seniors for many years. The group also makes a monthly trip to Hackley’s for grocery shopping, and they can also shop when they go on their
