Several studies done for the county Planning Commission have been contracted out to private firms. The Planning Commission for the Town of Washington had assistance from PD9 in rewriting its subdivision ordinance. The county’s contribution to PD9 do not cover such studies which involve additional fees.
Mr. Stroemple bristled at the survey’s criticisms. “We have qualified people and we can handle almost anything,” he said. “When I’m asked to do something, the service is provided. No one has ever been unhappy with us.” /
He called the “lack of substantive focus” charge “ridiculous,” and dismissed the criticism of local officials as “politics.”
