Three women came to the Board of Supervisors meeting Monday to ask for $1,000 to help publish a brochure promoting tourism in Rappahannock County as well as Fauquier, Clarke, Warren, and Loudoun counties but went away empty handed.
Sandy Roszel said that the group had commitments from the other counties and several towns in those counties and a commitment from the state for $5,000 in matching funds. The brochure would describe a one-day tour through the five counties mentioning each jurisdiction. She said the brochure would describe the counties as linked in being “wine country, horse country and historic” as well as beautiful. She said that Sharon Pierce, a member of the Planning Commission, had been meeting with the group doing the planning.
Sally Murray, from the Fauquier Chamber of Commerce, said her organization, which is operating a visitor’s center in Warrenton was already acting as Rappahannock’s Chamber of Commerce, because they have brochures in the visitor’s center for several Rappahannock attractions.
