To the Editor:
Governor George Allen is being attacked by the environmental radicals that ran Disney’s America out of Prince William County. They accuse him of misrepresenting the cost of the highway improvement package passed by the state legislature. In fact, the road improvements pro1posed varied a great deal. The final figure of $131.5 million was the one that was acceptable to the legislature and that was the one they passed with the provision that Disney generated sales tax would be allocated to pay off the bonds used for roads on the Disney site.
Despite the facts, the environmentalists try to convince us that the real cost would be a lot more and the Governor was delibertly deceiving us. This is a bald-face lie and they know it. But, they are doing this to position themselves to create more controls over private property in Virginia.
Governor Allen showed great leadership on the Disney project (and many others in his short time In office) in an effort to provide employment and economic growth. We all should support him in his efforts.
