Dr. Chappell has also served as “clerk of the works” for the building project at the elementary school, but by the end of November, “hopefully the project will be behind us,” Dr. Gangel said. Dr. Chappell would have also had responsibility to oversee work on altering the septic system at the elementary school, but “I can take that over.” Dr. Gangel said that administrative assistant Richard Smith has been assisting with transportation and can take over that responsibility. He said he would make sure other aspects of Dr. Gapppell’s job are covered on an interim basis.
“I think he’ll be a very good superintendent,” he said. “He’s a real people person who works on an individual basis. He’s a real stickler for detail and follow through. He’s generally well-liked and extremely competent. He’ll be greatly missed.”
Dr. Gangel said he believes the School Board will want to hire someone who could take over as superintendent, if necessary. He said the;
