Meals Site Coordinator Ruth Kiger would like more people to come to the Rappahannock Senior Citizens’ Nutrition Site.

Some of the seniors have left the site this year for various reasons, and there is plenty of room for more to attend. The qualifications for attending are simple: be over 60 years old and enjoy socializing with friends. Even a free ride to the site on a van is provided, and seniors are picked up and returned to their own home.

Lunch is provided for all attendees, at a minimum cost ranging from 50 cents to $2, depending on income. The hot meals are cooked in the kitchen at the Shadow Lawn Senior Center in Warrenton and delivered by volunteer drivers. The lunch almost always includes a meat, such as fried chicken or meatloaf, vegetables, dessert, bread and milk. f Dietary restrictions can usually be accommodated, such as diabetic
