In General District Court Tuesday, Kenny Baldwin, 21, of Sperryville, was found to be in contempt of a court order and sentenced to six months in jail, with 90 days to serve.
Immediately following court, Mr. Baldwin filed an appeal of the court’s decision. His case will be heard by the Circuit Court in a hearing scheduled for Jan. 9. He will not have to do any jail time before that hearing.
Last March the parents of a girl Mr. Baldwin had been dating went to court and received an order to keep him away from their daughter and off their property. Mr. Baldwin violated that court order on Sept. 1. He was caught in the girl’s home at about 1:30 a.m. by one of her parents.
A condition of the March court order also was that a six month jail sentence would be suspended if he complied with the court order for one year.
Commonwealth’s Attorney Peter Luke said, “This was a direct violation of a court order. We had an agreement. He violated it. He should now serve the six months.”
