Board chairman Dr. John Tole directed Gangel to open negotiations with Wise and Associates, the company that installed the green metal roof on the high school. On Jan. 23, Gangel provided the strategic planning subcommittee his requirements for space needs.
Based on his recommendations and supporting documentation, the subcommittee believes that action must be taken to expand the high school. Gangel projects that, based on elementary school numbers, nearly 500 additional high school students will enroll during the next five years. An estimated eight to 12 additional classrooms will be needed.
Tole reported that a major construction project is neither desirable nor financially possible at this time. After considering various options, including a high school annex, the subcommittee authorized Gangel to search for an architectural consultant to evaluate expansion of the high school. A previous study, conducted several years ago, is no longer considered valid.
