Little did my officer friends know, but they were sort of helping me fulfill a childhood dream by asking me to ride with them. As a little girl, I grew up dreaming about horses 24 hours a day and thinking of possible careers on horseback to keep the infatuation going. Since my height made becoming a jockey out of the question, I thought for a long time about joining the mounted police.
