Ray Nicholson, of Huntly, was seriously injured Friday in an automobile accident when he was partially ejected through the windshield of his truck .
Nicholson, who is 80, was driving on U.S. 522 in Flint Hill about 11:40 a.m. and failed to realize that a line of cars was stopped ahead of him on the highway, according to a report bv Virginia State Trooper A.W. Perry who investigated the accident. The cars were being held up by a watchman who had traffic stopped in order to let a tractor-trailer exit a private drive.
Perry reported that Nicholson, who was driving a GMC 1988 pickup, failed to stop and his truck rear-ended a 1995 Toyota pickup driven by Charles Eastham Jr., 63, of Flint Hill. Both men were wearing seat belts, Perry said,
