There I was. Late and a little frazzled as I pulled into the Rock Creek Park division of the U.S. Park Police mounted unit’s stable.
Not a good way to start an interview with cops, I thought, as I parked my Jeep, after unwinding from being hopelessly lost on Rock Creek Parkway. I had almost been totaled by an errant Metro bus just a few minutes earlier. I was breathless, and it wasn’t from anticipation.
For some reason, even though I have lived most of my life just a few miles from Washington, D.C. I have never gotten the swing of the Rock Creek parkway. I usually end up in Adams Morgan or Virginia. Tbday I’d “toured” what was the Watergate buildings trying to get just a few blocks down to the stable.
