many businesses displaying daily, temporary, service, and directional signs. Though these must now all be reviewed and approved by the Architectural Review Board, none were submitted. The council will contact individual property owners to encourage compliance with the new ordinance.
Council member Ray Gooch also pointed out that, with the exception of Tompkins’ property on Main Street, all the temporary or sandwich-style signs in the town are being displayed illegally in the VDOT right-ofway.
Parking survey
Four people volunteered to serve on the parking survey committee. Only one is a town resident. Gooch and town attorney Frank Reynolds suggested that the committee should be made up primarily of town residents. The council supported this view. Committee chairman Peter Skowronski will approach members of the business community for additional help.
