Ever since moving to
Virginia in 1984, my wife and I have been in love with Rappahannock County. We realized our dream of living here when we purchased our home in Amissville in 1996. However, we have been discouraged to see how the natural beauty of our back roads has been marred by those who thoughtlessly throw trash out of their vehicles. > '
The worst part of this * problem is that the roads that are most affected are the back roads, the ones that you and I as county residents travel. We can’t blame this problem on city folks coming out for a day visit.
This is our problem and it is ours to solve.
This past Saturday, my j wife and I picked up litter , along Route 645. In less than an hour, we filled two large trash bags with cans, bottles, fast food wrappers and even a spent diaper! f * ■
It was great exercise and it gave us an instant sense of accomplishment as
