At the high school, Scott Schlosser, the building trades m teacher, was given funding for his shed building project. Each year they must wait until the shed is sold before being able to pay for building materials. This grant allows him to pay for the materials before the shed is built.
High school teacher Ron Vickers was awarded funds for his Rappahannock Scholars program. He will use the grant to provide recognition for these scholars at the year-end banquet.
Last year’s artist-in-residence Laurie Marshall received funding to complete the editing of the onstage performance of the original drama “Rumble on the Mountain,” which was done in conjunction with the peer mediator program she conducted during the 199697 school year.
Headwaters was extremely pleased with the high quality of the grant applications and congratulates the teachers on their creativity. The only disappointment came from not being able to fund all the requests. The organization tries to fund projects that are not provided for in the regular school budget. The next series of grants will be presented in early fall of 1998, with applications going out to teachers at the end of this school year.
