Colonial’s
chase plans

In a popular move among hunt country horsemen, Colonial Downs will add steeplechase racing to its fall schedule in 1998.
Tentative plans call for two races a week for a total of 12 steeplechase races for the 30 day meet. According to Virginia racing secretary, Lenny Hale, the races will most likely run one each on Saturday and Sunday.
“We’re looking forward to it, especially as part of our big days,” he said. “We’re discussing a stakes program now, but nothing has been confirmed yet.”
