Delegate Katzen, a number of other legislators were visited and encouraged to withhold their support of this bill: Senator Kevin Miller, as well as Delegates Blevins, Orrock and Rust, three Republican members of the Finance Committee who had voted against this bill last year.

Following the meeting with Delegate Katzen, there was a press conference and rally at the State Capitol.

Those from Rappahannock who participated in Lobby Day were James Williams, Grace Sims, Pat Fillebrown, Lee Bird, Francie Schroeder, Floyd Stilley, Kate Gagnon, Andy Platt, Bill Tieckelmann, Aileen Johnson, Bill Kossler, Meredith Gorfein and Henry Gorfein. Joining them from Fauquier were John and Connie Fry, Rita Paine, Conway Porter, Anne Schwartz and Ali Zarabi.

During the bus ride home, all agreed that the day had definitely been well spent. Floyd Stilley spoke for everyone when he said, “We learned a lot, and we’ll be even better at it next time.”
