Hunt Country Celebrations seeks to take advantage of what Fauquier County offers, and turn it into business for local merchants. And, specifically, what Fauquier offers is a number of locations that are just perfect for holding weddings and other special events.
Karen Turley, a photographer who is the chairwoman of the group, readily affirmed that idea.
“This area is becoming very, very popular for weddings,” Turley said. “People are booking a year-and-a-half to two years in advance, and we’re not doing just local clients. In fact, probably 80 percent are from outside the region.”
With the average wedding now costing in the neighborhood of $20,000, the economic impact on the local community can be significant.
Hunt Country Celebrations was formed as a subcommittee of the tourism committee of the Visitor Center. The Visitor Center —rim by members of the Chamber of Commerce provides staff work for the group.
“It’s all here,” said Angela Denson, of the Visitor Center. “Whatever you need for an easy, hassle-free beautiful countary wedding ... and it’s probably less expensive than it is in the city.”
