If one walks five or six minutes, 1,500 feet will be covered, and this defines an area of 162 acres, the size of a small village. The length of Gay Street in Washington, Main Street in Sperryville, the central sections of Flint Hill and Woodville, are all 1,500 feet, more or less.
That’s a quarter of a mile; a five to six minutes walk. So walking 500 steps from one end of a village to the other is no big deal.
