Smithsonian in town
The second concert in the 1999-2000 “Smithsonian at Little Washington” season will take place on Saturday, Jan. 29 at 8 p.m. when The Theatre at Washington presents a recital of songs by Franz Schubert. The upcoming concert in tribute to Schubert brings to Little Washington a special appearance by famed Dutch baritone Max van Egmond. Van Egmond was born in 1936 in the former Dutch East Indies and moved to Holland after World War II. Kenneth Slowik, artistic director of the Smithsonian Chamber Music Society, will play a beautifully-crafted copy of a circa 1725 Viennese forte piano made by Rod Regier of Freeport, Maine for this concert.
