Benejit dinner-dance slated
The annual Valentine’s Day “Sweetheart Dinner-Dance,” benefiting the Culpeper-Madison Red Cross, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 12 at the Aberdeen Barn in Culpeper.
The evening begins with a social hour at 6 p.m., followed by a buffet supper. The Don Watts band will provide dance music from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Tickets for this fundraiser are $40 per person or $75 per couple, available from Red Cross Board members or from the Red Cross office at 146 North Main Street in Culpeper.

Auditions for “Barefoot in the Park”
The Windmore Community Theater is preparing for its final production of the season, “Barefoot in the Park”. Director Mark Firnhaber is looking for men and women, both young and older, for this Neil Simon comedy. The play focuses on a young newlywed couple living in a tiny walk-up apartment in Manhatten. Their neighbors and relatives help to provide some hilarious situations.
Auditions will be held on Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Culpeper. Actors should come prepared for cold readings. For those unable to attend, please call the Windmore Office at 547-2555 before Jan. 31 to make arrangements with the director.
“Barefoot in the Park” will take place on April 7, 8, 9,14, 15 and 16 at Culpeper Middle School. Windmore is partially funded by the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts.
ServSafe course scheduled
Food service managers and employees have the opportunity to become certified with the National Restaurant Association through a course being offered in Madison.
The course will be held at the Madison Extension Office, War Memorial Building, second floor on Mondays starting Feb. 14 and continuing on Feb. 21, Feb. 28, March 6, March 20 with the certification exam on March 27. Classes will be held from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. The cost is $92 per person unless there is a preformed group of 15 or more and the fee is $76. The textbook and exam is included in the fee. To register contact the Rappahannock Extension office, 675-3619 before the registration deadline of Feb. 7.
