• Hooray for the Wakefield Country Day School Girls’ and Boys’ Basketball teams! The girls have enjoyed four victories in a row with two close games against Emmanuel and Notre Dame, a 36-13 win against Colonial Beach, and a crushing 45-9 win against Wakefield, The Plains.
WCDS boys also triumphed over Wakefield, The Plains, in an exciting, edge of your seat game ending in a 5446 win! Kudos to the WCDS Owls! Come out and cheer the boys on Jan. 27 at 4:30 at home as they face RMA, and show your support for both WCDS teams on Saturday, Jan. 29 at Wakefield, The Plains, starting at 1 p.m.
• On Saturday, Jan. 15, the WCDS Studio Art Classes visited the Phillips Gallery to view the showing of Renoir to Rothko, The Eye of Duncan Phillips, accompanied by their teacher, Mrs. Pamela LynnTucker and fellow art teacher, Joyce Hunt. The trip gave students the opportunity to view these Impressionists’ and Modernists’ works first hand. The students were encouraged to look for techniques and styles they may like to try in their own classroom artwork.
• The Wakefield Country Day School Drama Club, directed by Mrs. Aney MassieHoehn is in rehearsals for its Spring Play, “The Importance of Being Earnest”, by Oscar Wilde. Performances will be held on Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25 at 7 p.m. Tickets will be available for sale prior to the performance dates. The community is wel- ‘ come. Last year’s Spring Play, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, by William Shakespeare, was a huge success!
