Perhaps the most costly lastminute changes to careful planning can happen after the ceremony is over.
“Even after the wedding, charges can be racked up,” said Dan Neja, director of sales and marketing at Marriott Ranch in Hume.
In the excitement, couples often forget that changes such as inviting the band to play for an extra hour can have severe repercussions on their budget.
If the band continues playing, for example, the guests will stay longer, which forces the caterers to keep the food and drinks out and does not allow ^clean-up to occur as scheduled. This can result in tremendous overtime charges from the site, the caterer and the band.
“It creates a domino effect,” Neja said. “It can get very expensive, very unpleasant for the person paying the bill.”
The same may hold true for the photographer arriving early to take photos of the surroundings, or the floral designer visiting the site beforehand to scope out the environment.
