After the last application was acted upon, the Commission heard from David, Edwards, head of the Winchester office of the Virginia Department of Historic Resources. Mr. Edwards briefly discussed the Department’s programs and their value to communities like Rappahannock, as well as their importance in fostering tourism. He spoke of the Department’s historic resources survey program, and its National Register program that has resulted in the listing of Rappahannock resources including the Sperryville and Washington Historic Districts, Montpelier, Caledonia Farms, and the Mt. Salem Baptist' Church. Mr. Edwards encour-' aged the Planning Commission to promote the use the Department’s expertise for asurvey of Rappahannock’s his-! toric resources on a cost-shared; basis.
