“Full bands at the reception are very popular,” said Kevin Olivera, whose Ashbum-based company provides bands and DJs for area weddings.
Band prices can range from $1,500 for a four-piece combo, all the way up to $6,000 for a full band with a horn section, Olivera said. DJs typically charge about $450 for an evening’s work.
Some DJs just play music, while some serve as a master of ceremonies, exhorting people to get up and dance. You have to make sure you’re not getting someone you don’t want at your wedding, Olivera explained.
“We work very closely to match the personality of the DJ with the personality of the customer,” he said. “It’s very important that they get the right personality.”
Wedding-planning services consider music a main ingredient for a successful celebration.
“It’s kind of like one-stop shopping,” said Angela Denson, whose Hunt Country Celebrations group provides an array of wedding services for Fauquier County residents, including a list of entertainment options available locally.
