conditions of the volunteer and researcher work spaces, but provide library, archive and museum space for historic materials and artifacts assembled by the society since 1965.
Today, the library, archives and research materials available at the Historical Society include such items as family files for every surname on the 1850 census of the county, inventories of every historic home and home site in the county, and the identification of some 8,000 burial sites in the county.
If you want to know more about your roots in Rappahannock County, you can have access to all these materials to do your own genealogical research or the society volunteers will do the research work for you.
If you are a member of the society or join before you do your research (the annual membership fees are $15. for a single membership; $20 for a family membership), you can do your own research at no cost. If you are not a member, you are charged $5 an hour or $10 per day for'your research time at the society. And, if you want help or just don’t have the time to pursue your Rappahannock roots, the society will do the research for you for $10 per hour.
