Two traffic accidents were reported in Rappahannock County last week, and both were caused by deer in the highway.
On Feb. 8 at about 6:40 p.m., two vehicles collided on Rt. 522 near Flint Hill after one driver swerved to avoid a deer that had come onto the highway.
Ward Cash, 18, of Chester Gap was southbound on Route 522 near the intersection with Route 641 when he saw a deer crossing the highway in front of him.
Cash skidded across the center line, striking a northbound 1996 GMC pickup truck driven by Francis Dofflemyer, 49, of Glen Allen, Va.
