In addition to her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by a brother, W. Jack Brown and two sistersin-law, Mildred Thornton Fletcher and Margaret Brown.
Survivors include one son, Philip Lee Thornton III and his wife, Carolyn Tholand Thornton of Sperryville; a grandson, Philip Lee Thornton IV of Richmond and a granddaughter, Felicia Lee Cary Thornton of Arlington.
Additional survivors include a brother, J. Rodes Brown Jr. of Tazewell; a sister, Ann Brown Thompson of Fork Union and a brother-inlaw, Dr. James M. Thornton of Gate City.
Graveside services were conducted on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Woodville Cemetery with Rev. Jon C. Heddleston officiating.
Found and Sons Funeral Chapel in Culpeper was in charge of the arrangements.
