lhe soil you use must be sterile, this means disease free. There is a fungus which is present in soil and with inside gardening this seems to cause the propagation and the plants will die.

To avoid this, use a combination of vermiculite and peat moss. Making sure when buying a seed start soil that it clearly indicates on the package that it has been sterilized. After it has been thoroughly moistened, the soil can be placed in flats, peat pots, dixie cups or egg cartons. The size of the container will depend on what type seeds you are growing.

If you don’t have sufficient lighting, the seedlings will become tall and spindly. Even if you have a window that receives full sun, you may need to supplement it with artificial light.
