Most gardeners start planting their gardens in midMarch. There are still those who plant potatoes, peas and onions on Saint Patrick’s Day.
Seed potatoes are available along with other seeds and plants at all the farm supply stores. I can remember when the left over potatoes were planted the next year. The crop was never as good as the new seed potatoes bought each year.
Seed planting must be delayed until after the last frost might arrive, which is usually around the middle of April to early May.
Many plants are^ started early indoors such as tomatoes. peppers, cabbage, cucumbers and squash. The seeds require the same conditions as those started outside. Since their environment must be artificially maintained.
The three basic requirements for all plants are soil, light and water. In each case there are special considerations.
