The Salem Ruritan Club is seeking sixth and seventh ; grade students from Rappahannock County to participate in \ the annual Oratorical Contest. First-place winners in the final ! contest will each receive a $500 scholarship, following grad- ! uation from high school for a college/university or a trade or j vocational school.

Applications may be obtained from the school or by contacting Calvin Lightfoot at 825-8233. “What Patriotism Means To Me” has been selected as the topic of this year’s contest. Contestants must prepare their own material. For additional information call Nancy Garrett at 547-3985.

Diabetes support gr oup offered

A Rappahannock diabetes support group will be offered March 27 by Cathy Tibbetts, RN, Certified Diabetes Educator at Trinity Church's Parish Hall in Washington from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. To find out more about the support group call Cathy Tibbetts at 987-1151.
