County runners invited
On Saturday, March 2 the Shenandoah Valley Runners wrap up their 2001-2002 Winter Series with the Claymont Retro Ramble 5K at Claymont Children's School near Charles Town, W.Va. and Rappahannock runners are encouraged to participate. The 3.1 mile race will have a 1970s theme, with prizes for the best outfits and a post-race trivia contest.
Runners of all ages and abilities are welcome. The race will start at 9:30 a.m.; registration begins one hour earlier. Entry fees are $3 for members, $4 for non-members and $1 for students. Call 955-3185 for more information or visit www.svrunners.org/ws/.
Annual pageant scheduled
The Sperryville Volunteer Rescue Squad’s Miss Rappahannock Pageant will be held on April 20 at 6 p.m. at the Rappahannock County Elementary School auditorium. Registration will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 14 with the rehearsal beginning at 2:30 p.m.
The pageant is open to all female residents of Rappahannock, up to age 19, in the following categories: Baby Miss, birth to 23 months; Tiny Tot. ages 2-4; Wee Miss, ages 5-7; Little Miss, ages 8-11; Junior Miss, ages 12-15 and Miss Rappahannock 16-19, as well as Little Mister ages 2-6. There will also be a sisters and mother/daughter category.
