Miss Wharton is a 1981 graduate of Madison County High School and is employed by Doubleday and Company.
Her fiance was graduated in 1981 from Culpeper County High School. He is a surveyor with Pacillulli, Simmons and Associates, Ltd., in Vienna.
An April wedding is planned.

T. J. Pillar of Sperryville observed his 80th birthday on Friday, September 28 with four generations present.
Weekend out-of-town relatives here for the celebration were Mr. and Mrs. William H. Pillar of Colonel’s Island, Ga., Mr. and Mrs. Forrest G. Guth of Wilmington, Del., Mr. and Mrs. Clyde H. HU1 of Point Harbor, N. C., Mr. and Mrs. Dean Wadsworth and daughters, Merdith and Sara of Roanoke also Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Cloe, Jr. and daughter, both of Stafford.
