My project begins each year in April when I go with my father, Randall Updike, and fellow 4-H members to the Madison Livestock Market to buy my market hog.
This year I purchased a Hampshire hog which I thought would gain well and show nicely. I took my hog home and kept it in a pen with by brother’s hog until the Farm Stow in July. I fed and watered my animal daily. I used a commercial swine feed mix from the Rappahannock Farmers
