Benefit Sock Hop A benefit sock hop, sponsored by the Sperryville Ladies Auxiliary is scheduled for Friday, October 26 at 7 p.m. at the Sperryville fire hall. Steve Norman of Castleton will be the dee-jay. Admission is $2 and refreshments will be sold.
Love J. James Singers On October 27 at 6 p.m., Reverend Love J. James and the Love J. James Singers of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Alanthus, Va., will perform at Promise Land Baptist Church. The show will benefit the building fund. The public is invited.
Halloween Party A Halloween Party sponsored by the Amissville Ladies Auxiliary will be held Oct. 31 at the Amiss ville Fire Hall, 7:80-9:00 p.m. There will be a 50 cents charge at the door that will cover games, refreshments and a haunted house. Prizes for all age groups.
Diet Meeting Scheduled Joyce Wharton, lecturer of the Washington and Chester Gap evening classes for the National Diet Institute (formerly Conway Diet), extends an invitation to the public to attend an open meeting of the Washington evening class on Monday, October 8, at 6:80 p.m. at Washington Baptist Church. According to Wharton there is no charge for this meeting and you are under no obligation to join. “However, if you do wish to become a member, we’d be happy to have you,” she said. Plans for this open meeting include a video tape highlighting the National Convention held this past June in Charlotte, N. C. A “before” and “after” fashion show with eight members from the local desses participating is included on the tape along with a television interview with Carol Campbell. A tasting party will be included with recipes from the Ideal Diet Cookbook.
